"What we see when watching others depends on the purity of the window through which we look".

I recently came across this statement and it truly represents The Woodlands philosophy about our residents.  I have never been so proud to be associated with such a fine group of employees in my 22 years of working with the senior adult population.  I am amazed each and every day with the degree of care and compassion I see extended to our residents by our staff.  It warms my heart to see the hundreds of smiles, the extending of a helping hand or a hug to a long awaited return of a resident who has been in the hospital.  This is why we love doing what we do in this industry.  During the holidays we have the opportunity to share our genuine appreciation for our residents with the many family members who visit.  Our mission is complete when we see the look of satisfaction on our family members faces, especially those from out of town, when they walk into our building and witness a great transformation of a loved one who was somewhat apprehensive about making the transition to assisted living.  Or the great success when the care we have given has helped a resident attain a greater level of independence or health status.  Or witnessing their loved one enjoying and participating in an activity.  The purity of the window at The Woodlands is crystal clear.  We are able to maintain this sparkling vision with the great contribution and attributes of all of our staff and the great job they do.  We commit to our families and to our residents to keep the vision perfectly clear.  During the holiday season it is extremely rewarding to welcome your positive comments and feedback about the services and care we provide in our home.  Our hope is to always live up to your expectations and make The Woodlands a great source of pride not only for the families and residents but to our staff as well.  Thank you for your continued faith and confidence in this great home.  Happy Holidays to all and we look forward to a great beginning to 2009!

I am writing you a quick note to tell you of the excellent care and consulting I have done with a number of your employees regarding one of your residents.  I am a speech-language pathologist (SLP) working part-time for Heartland Home Care.  I have seen your caregivers' great attentiveness.  My client has a wonderful team and because of this one experience, I have referred two of my resident's, being discharged from rehabilitation centers where I work full-time, to your Assisted Living Center.

It's tough to be elderly.  It's more difficult to be elderly and ill but it is extremely difficult to find people who care as much as your team has shown me and your resident this past two weeks.  The help they have given me as a guest in your facility was really surprising to me.  I have been a SLP in the field for 16 years and am very pleased to know that there are truly great places I would want a loved one to live if life turned in this direction.  You Assisted Living is definitely on the top of my list!

Thank you,

Brenda

It seems like only yesterday that our Mom moved into The Woodlands.  Yet actually almost seven years have flown by.  Everyone was so welcoming to her and us.  It became to feel like home and she made many new friends.  She enjoyed the entertainment, Price is Right, Penny Bingo and Family Nights, especially casino night.  Our family had great times in the TV room where we celebrated her birthdays each October the last seven years.  Her birthday party was also the advent of our family Christmas because we always held our secret gift draws for the family Christmas party at them since most of the family was together.  The management, staff and residents were always friendly and helpful.  We you helped Mom enjoy her independence for so many years.  She liked going to the supermarket, bank and with the lunch bunch.  We recall her telling us that she even helped "direct" when the group went on bus trips.  We also shared her enjoyment of the picnics in the park.  You looked after her when she was sick and made her comfortable day-to-day.  Understandably, her independence began to wane in the last couple of years.  It was then that the thoughtful comfort and assistance of "her Woodlands family" meant even more to her and to us.  Our family wishes to acknowledge and thank the management, staff and residents for all their help to Mom and us during the last few months and days of Mom's residence at The Woodlands.  We are eternally grateful and wish only the best to each and every one of you and your loved ones.  God bless you all.

My experiences as a resident of The Woodlands are almost unbelievable.  Many of my friends have always referred to me as old faithful for my unbelievable love of my home.  I have never felt that I would be happy at any place other than the home that my husband and I worked so hard to achieve.  Now, I am convinced that circumstances and common sense can change your outlook on any situation.  The facility is very accommodating to the residents.  The security is most unusual and the special attention each resident is given is unbelievable.  I feel even more secure that I did in my home community in which I lived for more thanforty years.  The employees are very courteous, understanding, and work diligently to help us in any way that is possible.  I wish to comment on the food services.  The food is very good.  It is always nutritious, attractive and surprisingly special.  The staff is very attentive, supportive and eager to give residents the best care that can be provided.  Unusual attentions is given to residents who need special care.  The staff is always aware of minute changes in the individuals and respond immediatley to the needs.  I shall be foever grateful to my family who suggested that I would be very pleased with the aspects and care which the facility porvides.  Experience is always one's best teacher.

My children and I would like to thank you for the loving care you gave my husband.  He was at your facility briefly but I know you made him feel as if he was at home.  I know he was thinking I am at home at last.

We'd like to thank all of your staff for all of the hard work you for Family Night.  We always enjoy coming and appreciate the work that all of you do.  We had a great time (as usual) at the Arnett Howard show.  I know we all look forward to these every month.  The food is always great as is the entertainment.  My parents enjoy the shows and love having us all there.  Thanks again!

Thank you for planning the Mother/Daughter luncheon.  We know a lot of work went into such an event.  At this time in Mom and Dad's like, having special days means a lot to them.  We know you didn't do it alone, so please thank your helpers.

BRAVO!  A job well done.  I write this on behalf of the residents who enjoyed the Gala on Tuesday evening.  We thank all of those who worked hard to make the event a success.  In spite of the large group things went smoothly and promptly.

The planning that went into the events of the evening is a credit to director Carol.  The seating alone required careful attention to the needs of residents.  The Celtic music ensemble shows the thought that went into the plan.  Thank you Carol!

For me the highlight of the evening was the presence of my wife and I'm sure for others the presence of family and friends.

The appearance of Diederick Van der velde and his gracious greeting to so many of us is much appreciated.  He is a very kind man.

Last but certainly not least we were celebrating the anniversary of a real saint.  St. Patrick I believe was cannonized by the catholic church as a saint.

God bless you all,

Resident W.R.
